Aluminium Copper And Bimetallic Type Parallel Groove Clamp

Our bimetallic parallel groove clamps solve the critical challenge of joining dissimilar aluminium and copper conductors without galvanic corrosion. Each unit features a tin-plated transition interface that prevents electrolytic degradation while maintaining optimal electrical conductivity. Tested to extreme temperature cycles from -50℃ to +50℃, these clamps provide reliable long-term performance for mixed-conductor distribution systems.

Copper-Aluminium Parallel Groove Clamp (CAPG), also referred to as aluminium copper and bimetallic parallel groove clamp, serves as a line fitting for non-load-bearing connection and offset of aluminium stranded wires, copper-core aluminium stranded wires, and copper branch wires. It can be paired with insulating covers to achieve protective and insulating effects in power line construction and maintenance. This product is suitable for commercial procurement in power transmission and distribution, as well as outdoor engineering projects with conductor connection demands.

Material & Structural Design of Aluminium Copper Bimetallic Parallel Groove Clamp

Main Body & Conductive Component Materials

The main body of the clamp is made of aluminium alloy with forged bimetal processing, and the pressure bar adopts aluminium alloy material. The forged bimetal structure adapts to the connection between copper and aluminium conductors, reducing the influence of material difference on long-term connection performance. The material selection adapts to long-term outdoor exposure scenarios, and supports stable electrical conduction of copper and aluminium conductor connections. The tooth-type contact structure on the clamping surface lowers contact resistance during conductor installation.

Fastener Configuration & Standard Compliance

All standard fasteners of the CAPG series follow corresponding DIN specifications. The spring washers and gaskets are made of iron conforming to DIN6796 with corrosion-resistant treatment. Bolts are made of grade 8.8 iron complying with DIN933, with dacromet plating on the surface. Nuts are made of grade 8 iron complying with DIN934, also processed with dacromet plating. The surface plating process enhances the adaptability of fasteners to outdoor environmental conditions such as humidity and dust.

Structural Design Details

The clamp adopts an integrated component structure, which avoids part loss during on-site assembly and transportation. The integrated structure also simplifies on-site installation procedures, which helps reduce construction time for field operation teams. The clamping surface adopts a large-area arc design, which makes the contact surface fit more closely with the conductor outer wall, and enhances the gripping force between the clamp and the conductor. The structural design adapts to conductor installation of different cross-sections within the applicable range.

Applications of Copper-Aluminium Parallel Groove Clamps

This type of parallel groove clamp is widely used in overhead power transmission and distribution line projects. It is applicable to the branch connection of aluminium stranded wires and copper-core aluminium stranded wires, as well as the offset connection of conductors in line reconstruction projects. For industrial applications such as outdoor power grid construction, rural power grid upgrading, and industrial power distribution line maintenance, the clamp can meet the non-load-bearing connection requirements of different conductor specifications. It is also suitable for temporary line connection and emergency repair work in power systems, providing a convenient connection solution for field operation teams. When matched with corresponding insulating covers, the product can be used in scenarios with insulation protection requirements, reducing the impact of environmental factors on line connection positions. The product can be installed without large-scale equipment, which reduces the difficulty of high-altitude operation in overhead line projects.

Customization Options & Supporting Notes

For projects with special material requirements for fasteners, the bolts and nuts of the parallel groove clamp can be replaced with stainless steel materials according to customer requirements. This customization option adapts to scenarios with higher corrosion resistance requirements, such as coastal areas or high-humidity industrial environments. Stainless steel fasteners maintain stable performance in salt spray and high-humidity environments, extending the service cycle of the clamp in special scenarios. It is recommended to use a matching insulating cover together with the clamp to achieve insulation and dust protection effects. The insulating cover can reduce the risk of accidental contact during live work, and slow down the corrosion rate of the clamp body and fasteners in long-term outdoor operation.

FAQ

What types of conductors are compatible with CAPG parallel groove clamps?

CAPG series clamps are compatible with copper branch wires, aluminium stranded wires, and copper-core aluminium stranded wires. The applicable conductor cross-section varies by model, covering a range from 6 mm2 to 300 mm2 for different conductor materials. Buyers can refer to the specification table to select the appropriate model based on actual conductor parameters and project demands.

Can the fasteners of the parallel groove clamp be customized?

Yes, the standard configuration of the product uses iron bolts and nuts with dacromet plating. According to specific project requirements, the fasteners can be replaced with stainless steel materials to adapt to different environmental corrosion resistance demands. Custom requests can be submitted with detailed project parameters for confirmation.

What role does the bimetallic parallel groove clamp play in power systems?

The bimetallic parallel groove clamp is used for non-load-bearing connection and offset of conductors in power lines. It realizes the transition connection between copper and aluminium conductors, and maintains electrical conduction at the connection point. It is a commonly used line fitting in overhead line construction, line transformation, and daily line maintenance projects.
