Zhejiang Haivo Electrical Co., Ltd., a leading high-tech manufacturer and global supplier of power transmission and distribution equipment, today announced that it has successfully won a competitive international tender issued by Electricity Distribution Lanka (Private) Limited (EDL). The tender, for the supply and delivery of 33kV surge arrestors, represents a significant milestone in Haivo's ongoing expansion into the South Asian power infrastructure market.
The bid — Bid No. EDL/COO(D2)/P&D/ICB/2026/005/BPC — was awarded for the supply of 6,500 units of 33kV – 10kA surge arrestors. The official bid name is: Bid for the Supply & Delivery of Surge Arrestors 33kV – 10kA – 6,500 Nos. This significant order underscores the confidence that EDL and the Sri Lankan power sector have placed in Haivo's technological capabilities and product reliability.

Electricity Distribution Lanka (Private) Limited (EDL) is the government-owned entity responsible for electricity distribution across Sri Lanka. Established under the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024, EDL officially commenced operations on March 9, 2026, taking over the distribution functions previously managed by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) .
As part of a comprehensive power sector reform, EDL was created to unbundle and modernize the country's electricity industry, separating generation, transmission, and distribution into distinct, more efficient state-owned companies .
