HAIVO Electric welcomed a delegation from TANESCO (Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited), the state-owned utility responsible for power generation, transmission, and distribution across Tanzania. The visit focused on type tests and factory acceptance of surge arresters and insulators, key components for TANESCO’s transmission and distribution network.
The technical team conducted a series of rigorous performance evaluations:
· Surge Arrester Residual Voltage Test – Measured the voltage remaining across the arrester under 8/20µs lightning impulse current to verify its protective characteristics against overvoltages.
· Insulator Lightning Impulse Withstand Voltage Test – Applied standard 1.2/50µs lightning impulse voltage to assess the insulator’s dielectric strength under simulated lightning strikes.
· Insulator Power Frequency Withstand Voltage Test – Checked long-term reliability and temporary overvoltage endurance under AC voltage at power frequency.
· Insulator Mechanical Test – Evaluated cantilever, tensile, and torsion strength to ensure structural integrity under field loading conditions.
All tests were performed in accordance with IEC standards, and the results fully met TANESCO’s technical specifications. The client expressed high satisfaction with the product performance and quality control procedures.
This successful acceptance not only reinforces HAIVO’s technical competence in high-voltage equipment but also strengthens our partnership with TANESCO, paving the way for further collaboration in East Africa’s growing power infrastructure sector. The tested products are now cleared for shipment and field deployment.
